- to select, install and try out a version control system that will replace the Windows-based one that I currently use
- to install and configure an email server (probably Exim and Dovecot so that they replicate the online server that I have inherited) in order to retrieve email from the internet and to offer IMAP (for incoming messages) and SMTP (for outgoing messages) services to Thunderbird.
